WHOLE CHILD EDUCATIONAL EVALUATIONS, LLC

Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE)

An independent evaluation can help you learn more about your child’s educational needs. Independent educational evaluation means an evaluation conducted by a qualified examiner who is not employed by the public agency responsible for the education of the child in question.

A private evaluation for learning and thinking differences involves various types of tests. It also includes a review of your child’s history and a conversation with and observation of your child. It can take a few testing sessions to finish and usually involves these components:

  • Intelligence testing including processing, memory and reasoning

  • Achievement testing in reading, writing, and mathematics to assess learning disabilities, symptoms and characteristics of dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia.

  • Testing in other areas of concern, such as behavior or social emotional functioning, attention/ADHD related concerns.

  • Autism screening assessment now available.

COMPREHENSIVE INDEPENDENT PSYCHO-EDUCATIONAL EVALUATIONS

Learning disorders in reading, writing and/or math? An evaluation can help identify areas of strength and weakness

A full psychoeducational assessment explores how cognitive, attention, and emotional/behavioral factors may be hindering academic, social, or functional success. This is the most commonly requested assessment, as it covers all possible areas of difficulty, including attention, learning, emotional/behavioral, and other disorders. Assessments typically include:

  • Diagnostic Parent/client interview that includes questions about current concerns, school and social history, and medical/developmental history and a more structured interview in which talk about specific symptoms and the degree to which these interfere with school functioning.

  • Self, parent/observer, and teacher-completed rating scales about current behavior.

  • Testing with the child/teen; this typically includes assessment of intelligence, academic achievement, and visual -motor functioning, as well as behavior assessments as needed and an unstructured interview. Observations are done during testing sessions. In addition to the standard battery of tests, it may be necessary to administer additional, supplemental tests depending on your concerns and/or results of other tests administered in order to ensure that we obtain the most clear understanding of each individual's strengths and weaknesses. Usually, this involves 1-3 testing sessions. Each appointment lasts between 1.5 to 2.5 hours depending on the age of the examinee.

  • Where appropriate, school observations in the child's classroom and conversation with the child's primary teacher.

  • A feedback session with parents in which we review the results of the testing, explain testing scores, and discuss recommendations, with a written report to follow.

  • A feedback session with students if they are in high school. The information is delivered in terms of strengths and challenges, in a way that helps student know their strengths and skills they can use to compensate for areas of weakness, and leave them feeling empowered.

Any accommodations and supports will be reviewed as a means of assisting with self-advocacy in the school setting.

  • A comprehensive written report summarizing evaluation and testing results including recommendations. This can help to aid the school 504/IEP team in developing a plan

  • Following the evaluation, I can work with families if supported to

act as the child/family's advocate at student school-based meetings. I would be available to support the family and collaborate with the student’s school in developing an intervention plan.

  • Fee Structure:

  • Psycho educational Evaluation will vary based on the referral concerns. Fees range between $600-$3200. I do offer sliding scale for families. ADHD testing can be completed also for a fee.
